TAKE A MENTAL HEALTH TEST

Maybe you’ve been dismissing it as just feeling “off.” Friends and family say that sometimes you’re just “moody.” Or perhaps you’ve convinced yourself that “this too shall pass,” you need to “just deal with it” or feel some sort of shame that you somehow deserve these feelings or that no one will understand.

You might, however, be dealing with something that millions worldwide are experiencing, too: A mental health issue – which is why taking a mental health test could be the first step towards a better tomorrow.

Mental Health America offers a variety of free online tests that are among the quickest and easiest ways to determine whether you are experiencing symptoms of a mental health condition. Additionally, Mental Health America’s online evaluations can help you determine if you’re suffering from other things that may influence your mental health, including eating disorders, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), postpartum depression or other treatable conditions.

YOUR POST-SCREENING CHECKLIST

As detailed on their website, Mental Health America will provide you information, resources and tools to help you both understand and improve your mental health once your online screening is complete. If you need support, simply provide your contact information and a professional will do their best to respond.

Those in crisis or in need of immediate help should call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255) or text “MHA” to 741-741 to speak with a trained Crisis Text Line counselor. Warmlines, peer-run lines that offer callers emotional support that may be staffed by volunteers in recovery themselves, are also excellent places to speak to someone if you are suffering a mental health issue.

Mental Health America’s online screenings are only intended to provide a quick snapshot of your current well-being. If your results indicate you are experiencing a mental health issue, consider contacting a mental health provider as soon as possible. All other screening-related questions and non-emergency support questions should be directed to screening@mhanational.org.

Remember, when you’re feeling alone, there is support for you. Identifiable mental health issues are treatable and can help people of all ages live long, empowered, independent lives.
